About Donna

I am a Marriage and Family Therapist who has been helping individuals, couples, and families create meaningful growth and connection in their lives for over a decade.

My work is grounded in the understanding that we are shaped by our relationships - past and present - and this can both support and limit us.

  • Therapy theories that inform my work are as follows:

Intergenerational Family Therapy | Internal Family Systems (IFS) | Relational Life Therapy | Attachment-based therapy | Circle of Security Parenting | Schema Therapy | Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) | Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) | Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) | Mindfulness & somatic awareness

Rather than applying a single method, I tailor my approach to the individual, couple, or family I am working with.

My focus is on both understanding and change - helping you make sense of your experience while also developing new ways of responding to yourself and others.

  • My educational background includes a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, training and mentorship in clinical supervision, and continuing education in a variety of counselling areas, including divorce mediation, couples therapy, schema therapy, sex therapy, and EMDR.

I have worked in addictions at a treatment centre, providing therapy and running groups. I did training in Expressive Arts Therapy, and worked with foster children using play and art therapy. I was a counsellor providing therapy and running recovery groups in the Provincial Eating Disorder Program, and I have done EAP contract work for several companies, providing short-term therapy. I have been in private practice for ten years.

My personal development has also included a lifelong interest in psychology and spiritual study and practice. I have had the opportunity to learn from many teachers and elders from diverse traditions, including Christianity, BuddhaDharma, Yoga, the Western Mysteries, the Fourth Way, Sufism, Universal Shamanism, and Indigenous Ceremony.
